Description

Your journey begins with a convenient pickup from your Batumi accommodation. As you travel the scenic route along the Akhaltsikhe highway, the expansive landscapes of Georgia unfold before you, leading you to the serene confluence of the Chorokhi and Machakhela rivers. Here, a gentle 1.5 km walk introduces you to the Gvara Fortress, an ancient sentinel poised to offer spectacular views of intersecting gorges and meandering roads below.

Continuing deeper into the gorge, you'll pause at the celebrated Gun Monument, a nod to the region's rich 19th-century gunsmithing heritage. The journey then weaves through picturesque villages and past the enchanting Tskhemlara bridge, each step accompanied by tales of local life and history from your expert guide.

Midday brings a delightful interlude at a local family home in Adjarisaghmarti, where you can indulge in traditional Georgian dishes prepared with love. Learn about daily life in the mountainous regions of Adjara as you dine.

The afternoon is dedicated to exploring further into the gorge. Drive along narrow roads carved into the steep gorge sides, offering dramatic views at every turn. Visit the Chkheri bridge and nearby waterfall, and if you're inclined, wander along the unmarked but inviting trails like the Mtavarangelozi Mountain Trail or the Kokoleti trail, where the peace of nature is only disturbed by the occasional glimpse of wildlife.

As the day concludes, a serene drive back to Batumi allows time to reflect on the day's adventures. This journey not only connects you with the stunning natural beauty of Georgia but also deepens your appreciation for its cultural heritage and the warmth of its people.
