Description
Your adventure begins early in the morning as your guide meets you at your Kutaisi accommodation for a convenient pick-up. We'll set off on our journey toward Martvili, nestled in the picturesque Samegrelo Region. Our first stop is the stunning Martvili Canyon, a natural wonder where you will embark on a short boat trip along the Abasha River. Follow the historical 30-step stair path, winding through the stone-paved circular canyon route, and take in the breathtaking views of cascading waterfalls. The Martvili Canyon, with its deep gorges and strikingly blue waters, is a testament to Georgia's natural beauty.
Next, we drive for about an hour and twenty minutes to the private museum within the open-air Ethno Village Sisatura. Here, our warm host will welcome us and guide us through the traditional Colchian Oda House, showcasing an array of old household items. We'll indulge in delicious Megrelian cuisine, enjoying a taste of local traditions and flavors.
A short 15-minute drive brings us to Zugdidi, the administrative center of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. We'll take a brief stroll through the city center before heading to the Dadiani Palace. This historic palace, once home to Queen Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani and Prince Niko Dadiani, now houses the History and Architectural Museum. Explore the royal gardens, transformed into a botanical garden, and delve into the rich history of the Mingrelian dukes. The Dadiani Palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the opulent lifestyle and architectural prowess of Georgia's nobility.
The second half of our day will be spent in Nokalakevi village, home to the ruins of the ancient acropolis of the Lazica Kingdom. This archaeological site provides insights into the Roman and early Byzantine periods, with remnants of ancient walls and structures telling tales of a bygone era. The serene beauty of the area, combined with its historical significance, makes Nokalakevi a captivating destination.
As the day winds down, we'll embark on our journey back to Kutaisi, reminiscing about the unforgettable experiences we've had. Your private tour concludes with a convenient drop-off at your accommodation, leaving you with memories to cherish and stories to tell.
