Nestled 291.4 meters (956 feet) above sea level, Jandari Lake (or Jandara Lake) is an awe-inspiring body of water that rests gently on the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Stretching 5.14 km (3.20 mi) by 2.44 km (1.52 mi), it spans a surface area of 10.6 km² (4.09 square miles) and harbors a catchment area of 102 km² (39.38 square miles). It reaches a depth of 7.2 meters (23.6 feet) at its deepest point, fascinating both casual observers and enthusiastic anglers.
Historically, Jandari was a shallow, salty lake that frequently succumbed to the scorching summer heat. This all changed in 1870 with the construction of the Gardabani canal, designed to redirect water from the Mtkvari River.
