Step into the heart of Georgia’s most ancient craft with our Qvevri Making Workshop. In Atsana village, Guria, you’ll join a local master craftsman whose family has carried the pottery tradition for generations — and still produces authentic Qvevris used by winemakers across Georgia. This is not a staged performance for photos, but a genuine encounter with living craftsmanship — a chance to see and take part in the real process behind Georgia’s most iconic clay vessels.
His workshop opens its doors to let you experience the creation of the world-renowned Qvevri, an essential part of Georgian winemaking recognized by UNESCO. Georgia is considered the birthplace of wine, and the discovery of ancient Qvevris — dating back over 8,000 years — proves that winemaking has been practiced here since prehistoric times.
This unique experience combines history, culture, craftsmanship, and taste. You’ll learn not only about shaping clay but also about shaping stories — the vessels that have carried Georgia’s wine heritage for thousands of years.
Ideal for travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences, this Qvevri masterclass is a highlight of any Georgia tour package, offering a genuine connection to the country’s artistry, traditions, and soul.
