There’s a place where the road ends in the clouds, and the noise of the coast fades into mountain silence. Welcome to Gomismta — a surreal plateau perched at 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) above sea level, where the clouds don’t hover above but roll beneath your feet. This private tour from Batumi is your chance to step out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary — a true Village Above the Clouds, wrapped in spruce-scented forests and kissed by clean alpine air.
With our local Georgian guide, you'll journey deep into the Adjara highlands — traveling scenic routes rarely seen by mass tourism — and spend the day walking above the sky. Whether you're here for the view, the peaceful hike, or the warm picnic with homemade cheese, fresh bread, and sizzling shashlik, this Adjara tour will leave you with that rare sense of presence travelers crave. This isn’t just a nature trip. It’s the kind of experience that makes you whisper: “How is this even real?”

Description
Your Georgia travel experience begins with a morning pickup in Batumi, directly from your hotel or a convenient roadside point. Depending on your group size, we’ll assign a well-maintained sedan, minivan, or 4x4 — all air-conditioned, clean, and handled by trusted local drivers.
As we leave the subtropical coastline behind, the road begins to wind upward. The landscape transforms quickly — from citrus groves to misty pine forests — while your guide shares the little-known history of Adjara’s highland villages, ancient shepherd trails, and the old trade routes that once crossed these ridges.
After about three hours, we arrive at Gomismta: an ethereal summer village built on the spine of the mountains. Weather permitting, you’ll witness the famous cloud inversion — where dense white clouds drift through the gorges below, turning hilltops into floating islands. Even when skies are clear, the views are magnificent, stretching toward the Black Sea coast on one side and the wild mountains of Guria on the other.
We take a gentle walk at this altitude — nothing strenuous, but enough to feel the crisp mountain air and absorb the landscape in silence. This is one of those rare travel moments in Georgia when time slows down. You'll pass rustic wooden cottages, untouched meadows, and springs that locals believe carry healing minerals.
At midday, we spread out for a private picnic. The food is simple, honest, and local: grilled meat (or vegetarian options on request), seasonal vegetables, homemade cheese, fresh fruit, crusty Georgian bread, and a sweet treat to finish. All served with mountain views and stories passed down through generations.
We spend a bit more time soaking in the atmosphere, maybe taking a few last photos or just lying in the grass — and then it’s time to descend. The ride back follows the same mountain road, offering new light and perspectives. Expect to arrive in Batumi around 19:00, satisfied, relaxed, and still replaying the clouds in your mind.
