Gori

Gori is a historic town located in central Georgia, about 86 kilometers (53 miles) west of Tbilisi. The town is situated on the banks of the Mtkvari River and has a population of approximately 50,000 people. Gori has a rich history, dating back to ancient times, and was an important center of trade and culture on the Silk Road.

Gori is perhaps most famous as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, the former Soviet leader. The town has a museum dedicated to Stalin, which includes exhibits on his life and the history of the Soviet Union.

Apart from the Stalin Museum, Gori also has other historical and cultural sites worth visiting, such as the Gori Fortress, built in the 13th century, and the Uplistsikhe Cave Town, an ancient rock-hewn city located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) east of the town.
