Located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, specifically on the Egrisi Ridge, Tsakatskarish Toba (Lake) sits at an elevation of 8,465 feet or 2,580 meters above sea level. The lake captivates with its stunning hues and exceptional setting. However, accessing it proves challenging; no defined path leads directly to it, compelling most hikers to admire the view from a nearby pass instead. In its vicinity, you'll find Kalalish Toba, another lake worth noting.

Tsakatskarish Lake, with its stunning coloration and remarkable positioning, draws the interest of avid hikers. Despite being situated in a remote area, those who do venture here are rewarded with breathtaking scenery. However, it's crucial to highlight that reaching the lake is not a feat for the faint-hearted or inexperienced. The absence of a proper trail necessitates professional-grade hiking expertise and equipment.

For those less inclined to navigate such rugged terrain, the surrounding area still offers ample opportunity for admiration and enjoyment, with views of the lake accessible from the pass. Here, the wild beauty of the region is on full display, complete with a glacier that gracefully descends into the lake from the eastern flank.

Beyond Tsakatskarish, the region is home to three additional lakes: Didghalish, Kalashish, and Tsashkibulish. Exploring all four of these aquatic gems is an ambitious endeavor, likely spanning 5-6 days of hiking. Despite the trails' inherent challenges, these lakes remain coveted destinations for nature enthusiasts and hiking aficionados alike.

The peak season for hiking in this region extends from July through mid-September. During these months, it's not uncommon to find tents dotting the landscape around the lakes, as hikers converge to enjoy the optimal conditions. In this pristine wilderness, the Magana river's waterfall provides a soothing soundtrack, the majestic mountains stand tall, and meadows awash in alpine flowers create a vibrant tapestry of color.
