Description

Your journey begins at your hotel, from where you will be whisked away towards the enchanting town of Borjomi, known for its mineral water springs since the early 19th century. Stroll through the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, one of the largest in Europe, where the famed mineral springs and lush Borjomi Gorge await. Discover the historical significance of Borjomi water, which gained fame for its healing properties and was a favorite of Russian nobility during their travel to Georgia.

Continuing to Rabati Castle, located in Akhaltsikhe, your guide will share stories of this fortress which dates back to the 9th century. It has been a defense point for various empires and underwent a major restoration in 2011. Here, you’ll see how Rabati Castle embodies a synthesis of Georgian, Ottoman, and Persian architectural styles, making it a symbolic site of Georgia’s layered history and a must-see on any tour to Georgia.

After exploring Rabati Castle, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant specializing in Georgian cuisine. Experience the rich flavors of dishes like khinkali and khachapuri, enhancing your cultural journey during your private tour in Georgia.

Post lunch, the tour heads to the breathtaking Vardzia Cave Monastery. This sprawling cave complex, dating back to the reign of Queen Tamar in the late 12th century, extends over half a kilometer and originally had as many as 3,000 caves. It was both a monastic retreat and a fortified city. As you explore these historic caves, learn about their strategic importance and how they served as a hiding spot during Mongol invasions, a pivotal point in Georgia's history narrative.

Your day concludes with a comfortable ride back to your hotel, filled with the rich tapestry of Georgian history and the unforgettable tastes of its traditional cuisine, making it an essential experience for any Georgia travel itinerary.
